KCMA CERTIFICATIONS: 45+ YEARS OF QUALITY
American Wood Council

The American Wood Council, which represents wood product companies and associations, including KCMA, has submitted final comments to the California Occupational Safety and Health Standards regarding the revision of CCR title 8, Section 5155, Airborne Contaminants Wood Dust and Western Red Cedar.

In the letter, the Council requested that California OSHA issue a revised proposal for a wood dust permissible exposure limits (PEL) that would be reasonable and “supported by substantial evidence”.

The rule proposed a PEL of 1 mg/m3 -- which has posed issues that are described by AWC as technically unfeasible.

The Council highlighted a number of studies the OSHA Board conducted as support for the proposal.
