RESTON, VA . . . According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA)’s monthly Trend of Business Survey, participating cabinet manufacturers reported an increase in cabinet sales of 3% for November 2019 compared to the same month in 2018.  Custom sales increased slightly at 2.2%, semi-custom increased 3%, and stock sales were up 3.1%.

Unfortunately, the monthly numbers tell a different story. Cabinet sales overall were down 7.9% compared to October 2019 with custom down 7.2%, semi-custom sales down 8.7%, and stock sales down 7.5% compared to the previous month.

Year-to-date cabinet sales are up just 0.8% with custom sales down 0.4%, semi-custom sales down 4.1%, and stock sales up 4.8%.

Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 70 percent of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market.  KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry.  All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA.  Sixty-three percent of KCMA cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry.  KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than forty years.
