CABINET SALES UP 2.5% IN AUGUST 2017
RESTON, VA . . .Cabinetry sales for the month of August grew 2.5 percent compared to sales in August 2016, reported participating members of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) in its monthly Trend of Business Survey. The gain was led by a boost in stock cabinet sales, which grew 3.8 percent in August, compared to the same period last year. Semi-custom sales increased 1.8 percent and custom sales dipped slightly by 0.2 percent, compared to August 2016.
Year-to-date total cabinetry sales continue to grow, climbing 3.5 percent through August, with stock cabinet sales up 4.1 percent, semi-custom sales up 3.6 percent, and custom sales up 0.6 percent, compared to sales through August 2016.
Survey participants include stock, semi-custom, and custom companies whose combined sales represent approximately 70 percent of the U.S. kitchen cabinet and bath vanity market. KCMA is the major trade association for kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. All major U.S. cabinet manufacturing companies belong to KCMA. Sixty-three percent of KCMA cabinet manufacturer members report sales below $10 million annually, reflecting the importance of small manufacturers in the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than forty years.
