Pennsylvania commonwealth releases guidance for businesses in construction industry to operate during covid-19

While the Governor and the Secretary of Health ordered cabinet manufacturers to close in March, all other construction-related operations were allowed to continue. After much work by members of KCMA based in Pennsylvania, as well as the KCMA team, the Governor reissued his order in late April and granted cabinetry the same exclusion as all other construction-related jobs. As of May 4, all cabinet companies that wished to operate are doing so. Read more here.

NAM urges congress to protect manufacturing companies

The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) recently released a letter to Congress, urging them to take steps to protect manufacturing organizations from the risk of COVID-19 lawsuits. While manufacturers are doing their best to serve the public's interest, protect their communities and minimize harm to the American people, there is still concern that they could be vulnerable. To help further this cause, KCMA signed the letter. Read more here.

US delays many tariff payments

The U.S. government announced that it will allow companies to defer paying tariffs on many imported goods for 90 days. The deferral doesn't apply to antidumping or countervailing duties or to punitive tariffs on Chinese goods. Read more here.

Many of you have received Payroll Protection Program (PPP) funds from the Small Business Administration. If you haven’t, the second round will hopefully be your opportunity to do so. Coronavirus causing homeowners to pull back on remodeling

A recent National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) survey of professional remodelers revealed the negative effect the coronavirus pandemic is having on the decision to remodel. More than 90% of remodelers in the survey reported a slowdown in both the rate at which inquiries are coming in, and in the general willingness of homeowners to remodel at this time. Read more here.
