CANADA INVESTIGATES CHINA'S ALLEGED DUMPING OF HARDWOOD PLYWOOD
The Canadian Services Agency has initiated an antidumping and countervailing duty investigation into decorative and other non-structural plywood imported from China.

The investigation follows a complaint filed by the Canadian Hardwood Plywood and Veneer Association, alleging that hardwood plywood is illegally dumped and subsidized by China, causing injury to Canadian producers.

ECONOMIC UPDATES
There were 311,000 manufacturing job openings in April.

The manufacturing sector hired 305,000 workers in April, with 706,000 separations. Net hiring in April was -401,000.

Small business optimism rebounded somewhat in May, even as firms continue to struggle.

New orders for manufactured goods fell 13% in April, the largest monthly decline on record.

52% of builders used incentives to boost sales in May.
