Commerce sets new AD/CVD rate for hardwood plywood & flooring

The U.S. Department of Commerce has completed its review of hardwood plywood antidumping and countervailing duty rates for 21 Chinese exporters and producers who requested a review. For these 21 companies, the new combined duty rate is about 63%. All other Chinese companies remain subject to the 183% antidumping duty rates from the investigation. The new rates will go into effect shortly and retroactively cover shipments during the 2017 review period. More than 150 Chinese companies are covered by the higher countervailing duty rate.

Arauco Achieves Carbon Neutrality

Arauco says it is the first forest products company to achieve carbon neutrality. This means the company is removing more carbon from the atmosphere than it is emitting. The company effort was sustained by two complementary paths: efficiencies at an operational level that allow the company to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and at the same time an increase in CO2 captured by the native forest, forest plantations and carbon stored in forestry products.

Showplace Cabinetry Founding Partner Korsten to Retire

Showplace Cabinetry has announced that Scott Korsten, a founding partner and currently the director of marketing services, will retire at the end of December 2020 after nearly 40 years in the kitchen and bath industry. In early 1999, Scott joined several other partners to establish Showplace Wood Products. Since then, Showplace has grown to become one of the largest and most well-respected cabinet makers in the country. Jon Bour, VP of Sales will oversee the marketing group at the beginning of 2021.
